366 CONCEPT

The model 366 easy chair is one of the most popular Polish furniture items from the 1950s-1960s. To some extent, it owes its popularity to luck. It all began in the early 1960s, when fire destroyed a furniture factory in Świebodzice. Suddenly, there was an urgent need to create simple furniture that could be quickly produced. Józef Chierowski, a young designer, decided to take advantage of the situation.

This was when the potential of the model 366 easy chair was noticed. Management of the Świebodzice factory admired its aesthetics and minimalism, and decided to put it into mass production straight away. The easy chair was an instant success and was soon a fixture in almost every office, coffee shop and restaurant in Poland.

Mairi Helena is an Edinburgh based designer producing high-end luxury home accessories for interiors and fashion. Her novel designs are created using influences from her photographic portfolio of Scotland, producing abstract surface pattern designs with a unique fine art feel.

‘With both my parents being textile designers, I was brought up with an appreciation of design. Previously with the vibrant, earthy colours of the Scottish Borders landscape where I grew up, then seaward by the rustic, weathered, coastal fringe of Fife and now the bustling, pulsating Edinburgh sensations, I love fusing textiles, textures, and photography to create fashionable prints‘.

Monica Correia received her “Cum Laude” Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and her MFA degree in 3D Design from the University of Iowa. She had exhibitions at several art and design venues including “100% Design: Emerging Brands” and “DesignJunction”, both in London, UK; “EDIT DesignJunction”, in Milan, Italy; “International Contemporary Furniture Fair” (ICFF) in New York City; and “BIO.23: Biennial of Design Show” in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Her pieces have also been displayed at “Salão Design Casa Brasil”, “Abiplast Design Award” and “Liceu de Design Award” in Brazil; “The Skin of Corian®”, in Milan, Italy; at the Krasl Art Center ArtLab Saint Joseph, MI; Chico Art Center, CA and the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art, KS, among others.

Composition is a young company set up to satisfy an itch. Company owner Jonathan Woodcock is an Architect and has worked in the high-end residential field for 15 years, and has always had a passion for furniture design. Involved in the architectural design and construction of the home, Jonathan has always had a keen interest in the furniture which tends to be the finishing touch of any new space.
