Today we bring you a traditional house project by the Portuguese architects Filipe Pina and Maria Ines Costa, located exactly in Portugal.

House JA was envisioned to combine a rural and urban lifestyle and the result was PERFECT! “The existent stone ruins, a vestige of a traditional home and the configuration of the lot were the main aspects of the new project. The first principle was to separate the new and the old construction, even if they are connected inside.”, you can read at freshome.

One of the principles was to separate the new and the old construction, even if they are connected inside. A stone volume represents the existent building; a concrete volume the new one.

The second one, was to introduce light in the middle of the building. Two different empty spaces were generated: the entrance, and the heart of this home – the courtyard. As you can see here.

I was sailing by freshhome.com searching for the best news, as I always do, when I found something that totally feeds up that basic human need to live in spaces flooded by light. 🙂

Turnable corner by vitrosca 3 Turnable Corner by Vitrosca - the intelligent window system Turnable corner by vitrosca 3

I am talking about an innovative window system from Vitrosca, “The Inventor of the world’s slimmest sight lines”. ‘And why is this special?’, you ask. Because each panel can slide independently of each other.

Turnable corner by vitrosca 2 Turnable Corner by Vitrosca - the intelligent window system Turnable corner by vitrosca 2

Turnable Corner “allows architects to design a massive opening with more options for storing away the actual panels to open up the outside to the interior”, since each panel can be completely hidden along a wall down the side of a building when they are moved out of the way.

Swiss winters may be a little grey, but we found something that will add some color to the city. I am talking about an apartment, in Geneva, developed by the architects Leopold Banchini and Daniel Zamarbide. The concept is very unusual: everything can be seen.

It was conceived as a place for intimacy: the kitchen and the living room are connected with the bedroom by a window.

Hello, lovers!

For interior designers, architects or simply decor lovers, here we are again to give the best tips. At least, we try.

Winter is a difficult season, and we tend to be a little bit downer and sad. For that reason we use to wear black clothes, to use dark acessories and guess what? We tend to keep our home decor so dark that it turns out to leave our spirit even lower.

This situation must stop, and it must stop right now!

Today we bring you some tips on how to decorate your modern living room with blue shades. But in a happy way!

10 Modern living rooms 10 Modern living rooms: tips on how to be happy with winter blues 10 Modern living rooms10 Modern living rooms 9 10 Modern living rooms: tips on how to be happy with winter blues 10 Modern living rooms 910 Modern living rooms 3 10 Modern living rooms: tips on how to be happy with winter blues 10 Modern living rooms 310 Modern living rooms 2 10 Modern living rooms: tips on how to be happy with winter blues 10 Modern living rooms 210 Modern living rooms 4 10 Modern living rooms: tips on how to be happy with winter blues 10 Modern living rooms 4

If you have blue painted walls you should use another colors for the decoration. We recommend strong and happy colors like purple, pink, orange, yellow and metallic shades, like gold an copper. Golden and blue really is a great and modern color combo. Use it!

Of course you can mix gray with blue as well. It’s a contemporary combination, perfect for modern-rustic living rooms.

Don’t forget to abuse of patterned details, like pillows and paintings and to use a modern ceiling lamp. That’s the way to send the blues away and get a modern and happy living room.

imm cologne is ON already! This year the fair was looking forward to get a creative view from outside of europe in order to realize its annual feature ‘das haus’.

Architects neri&hu, from Shangai, accepted the challenge: they developed a home vision that utilizes the fine wood products of dinesen, a flooring company.

In words of Dick Spierenburg, creative director of imm cologne 2015, the decision to invite neri&hu as guests of honour for 2015 was made because “with neri&hu, we have found a pair of architects who have long been experimenting with giving the buildings they design their own characteristic inner dimension, by filling it with furniture and fixtures they design themselves, and it’s in a way which we find really inspiring: atmospheric and pared down at the same time, with refined details and twists.”

Neri&hu project is a 240 m2 large house with a bridge. This elevated walkway “guides people through ‘das haus’ in a way that offers curated views of the various rooms, providing a renewed perspective on architecture, design and living.”

"Architecture trends for 2014: what to expect"
December 17th, 2013 by weblog

Home designs, that means architecture, have been changing all over the years. Architecture trends are always thinking in the future. Today’s constructions are yesterday’s designs.

Architects have to be as innovative as possible. They are the persons that can change the landscape and make our lives much more comfortable and easy.

In 2014 there are some trends that will catch up and be used by architects and builders all over the world.

Home Design Ideas” will reveal to you some architecture trends that you can expect in 2014!

Prefabricated houses

Prefabricated houses are rapidly being used all over the planet. They can be built faster and easier. Builders can use very different methods to construct them and architects have a wider choice of materials. Modern engineering at its best.

If you don’t think that prefabricated houses are a good option just read the December/January issue of Dwell. It’s a great way for you to find more useful information about prefabricated houses.

More integration with green spaces

With cities increasingly more populated, the need and demand for more green and energy efficient homes, architects have started to create designs with an ecological concern. They are integrating more green spaces are it’s hard to find a home that it isn’t Eco friendly. In 2014 Eco friendly houses will be a common construction all over the world.

Homes will be more minimalist

Our house is seen as our escape from the world. In 2014 architects will be extremely concerned with the energy of the spaces. Homes will be more spacious and without too many divisions. Interior designers will design spaces a little bit minimalistic to create a more relaxed ambience.

These are some architecture trends that you can expect in 2014. Of course, some of them might change and other home design ideas will appear, but “Home Design Ideas” can say that, for example, prefabricated houses will have an important presence in the landscape and that architects will have to create more and more eco-friendly houses.
