The Farnsworth House significance is two-fold. “First, as one of a long series of house projects, the Farnsworth House embodies a certain aesthetic culmination in Mies van der Rohe’s experiment with this building type. Second, the house is perhaps the fullest expression of modernist ideals that had begun in Europe a few years earlier.” in Farnsworth House Org

Minimalistic modern home design ideas by Vincent Van Duysen
November 29th, 2015 by weblog

Check out this minimalistic modern home design ideas by Vincent Van Duysen

Van Duysen got his start as an assistant to Aldo Cibic in the legendary Milan studio of Ettore Sottsass. In 1990, he went on to establish his own studio in Antwerp, Belgium. He comes from the long and rarefied line of architects who refuse to concentrate only on the shell and also project a sense of living that is as much inside as outside. Van Duysen calls it the “art of living,” and he’s done much to refine that art in industrial design, having created everything from slender outdoor furniture and earthenware containers to Swarovski crystal chandeliers. His architecture is more purist than minimal, and an exhaustive sweep of it can be seen in a new monograph, Vincent Van Duysen: Complete Works (Thames & Hudson), which is out this May. Also this spring, his studio will show several new product designs at the Milan Furniture Fair, including a cupboard system and bathroom furniture. And in September, the Antwerp youth hostel he designed is set to open. It’s hardly a surprise that Van Duysen is friends with fellow Antwerpian and purist of fashion Raf Simons. The two recently spoke about what minimalism means to them as well as the kinds of houses they really want to call home.

If Marino’s personal style is specific and indelible, his architecture and interiors are much harder to pin down. Marino’s boutiques do not instantly assault with their “Marino-ness”. Like NY Mag wrote, inside a Marino space, it’s all smooth-moving luxury, where drawers and doors close in perfect silence, and the elevator button is weirdly satisfying to push. They are well and flatteringly lit and, like Marino’s office, full of eclectic collections of art. They feel rich and full and calm.

There’s a company where design is the meaning: Gensler. Where the starting points are goals, strategies and expectations and where design is transformative. Among all the services that this company provides (architecture, planning and urban design, product design, sustainability, consulting and brand design), Interior Design is our thing and it’s about this that we want to talk about.

Gensler designs interior spaces for living and working. Interior performances can be measured in human and organizational terms. To hit the mark means to design not just something that is of great visual impact, but to designs also that is important in terms of health, comfort, flexibility and use. That’s why Gensler designers work collaboratively and strategically to deliver innovation, quality, and sustainable performance and that’s why their projects are international in scope and range from offices to stores, academic and civic buildings, convention centers, as well as entertainment and cultural venues.

Technology is the secret for Genders’ success. “Some companies like campuses to get people under one roof; others prefer towers to attract talent. Tech likes metrics. It’s questioning how buildings work, which means rethinking their performance”, we can read at the website. Let’s see two of the best Gensler Projects.

Facebook Seattle
Seattle, Washingtonfacebook seattle gensler Gensler: technologic inspirational projects gensler facebook seattle

“The challenge for the tech titan’s Seattle office was creating a user-defined space that could adapt to constant change while still expressing the company’s spirit and values. The answer came through a free-form space with employee-controlled workspaces and the use of basic, non-pretentious materials. Interior walls are blank canvases for employees to use as they see fit. A range of spaces from a micro-kitchen and pop-ups to cozy rooms and chill areas accommodate a variety of working styles. To minimize demolition and maximize sustainability, many items were repurposed or reused, including doors, walls, glass and exposed ceilings.”

Prezi
San Francisco, California, and Budapest, Hungaryprezi office gensler Gensler: technologic inspirational projects gensler prezi office
Boca do Lobo gensler Gensler: technologic inspirational projects Boca do Lobo4

“This innovative presentation company recently signed leases for a short-term space in San Francisco and a longer-term one in Budapest in a historic building with an unusual floor plan. For both, Prezi sought a branded workplace design reflecting its culture while considering the constraints of the two spaces. The design effort began in Hungary, where Gensler worked in concert with Prezi staff to develop conceptual ideas and aspirational design guidelines, which were provided to their architect in Hungary and brought back to San Francisco. Despite the differences, a cohesive design is expressed in both spaces, with the San Francisco office’s materials moveable when the lease expires.”

Now you know one of the best Interior Design Studios in the world. Visit Gensler’s Website and get to know their amazing and technological universe. Enjoy!

The projects initial volume is split in 2 units that are slightly shifted in height and length in order to loosening the entire structure and articulating their differentiation.

Both units are floating on a base above the ground evoking lightness beside offering better views from their cantilevering terraces to the impressive surrounding landscape. The volume opens towards east with a big glass facade that fades with curvilinear lines into the black aluminum shell. Mirrored glass on the west facade borders the garden of the client with the units and catches the surrounding panorama with pool while making the units almost invisible.

In certain views from the garden the old existing farmhouse is mirrored in the new contemporary architecture and is literally blending into it rather then competing against.

Architect Ernesto Pereira envisioned this original contemporary timber-clad residence called SilverWoodHouse. When contacted, the brief came with no deadline or even budget, just a simple request: the owners wanted “a piece of art, a product that fascinated them and where it would feel good to live”.

This house, located near Mindelo – a coastal area 14 miles north of Porto – inspires a holiday refuge with a soothing beach-side atmosphere. Pereira admits that “It was very important to meet the owners exhaustively, as well as their tastes and their foibles, routines and pleasures, and present a solution: the SilverWoodHouse. I decided to take the beach to my clients, so that they could feel everyday the proximity of the dunes, sand and worn wood.
