Your dream of living in a mid-century inspired home styled by interior design guru Emily Henderson might now be one step closer. More than wishing she could just take your home into her hands and completely transform it, there’s now an actual chance we get to live in her actual house!
Henderson’s modern California home just hit the market for $1,027,000, and the star even revealed on her blog that some items she picked out to stage the home will be for sale! We’re talking about dream items like Rebecca Atwood pillows, a Jonathan Adler pot, plus furniture such as the sectional, dresser and saddle chair.
“I was very worried about how to style this room to sell, and yet be full of enough personality to represent me,” Henderson stated. “I kept all the color and pattern in the textiles, and used a (what I like to think) universally loved color palette of gray, blue, navy, white, wood, with some hints of lighter toned pinks as an accent.”
The whole house underwent a serious renovation by Emily Henderson herself and is now ready to be sold and be the cheerful new home of a young couple, such as the star and her husband when they first moved in.
The three-bedroom home features a step-down living room with a pitched ceiling and wall of windows that helps keep much of the residence looking light and airy.
This dream house even features a rooftop patio overlooking the sunny city of Glendale, CA. Now it’s up to you to make the decision whether this incredible and jaw-dropping house it’s worth the investment. Our opinion…? Go buy it tomorrow!

Our home design ideas for today were created by Axel Vervoordt . Vervoordt has earned renown as a collector, antiquary, interior designer and, most recently, curator. He counts among his clientele royalty, rock stars, financiers, tech tycoons and artists. Tall and elegant, with a serene smile, this 62-year-old may be one of the world’s foremost tastemakers. Yet he has little interest in “style,” at least as it is currently defined, because essentially, Vervoordt is a metaphysician. Inquiries into the nature of being and concepts of time and space are what most compel him; he conveys his views through his inspired arrangements of objects and interiors. To some, expressing the lofty in the material might seem contradictory, but Vervoordt believes that, as in a Zen koan, truth can be contained in paradox and ambiguity. Clients may go to him in search of a splendid antique armoire or for help renovating and furnishing an 18th-century villa, but the most valuable service they receive is instruction in his highly evolved yet quite fundamental philosophy of living. Let’s see theseRustic home design ideas by Axel Vervoordt.

Nate Berkus is an American interior designer, author, TV host and television personality. He runs the Chicago interior design firm Nate Berkus Associates and has been a regularly featured guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, offering design advice to viewers, as well as coordinating surprise make-overs for people’s homes. He has released numerous lines of products, and authored several books.
Decorating Tips from Nate Berkus
Whether it concerns television stardom or his cult home collections, Nate Berkus has been on a mission to make high design accessible to the masses, and it’s one idea we can get behind. His mantra, “Live beautifully,” emphasizes the little things people can do to feel better in their homes — most of which cost next to nothing to achieve.
Of course we want to show you some home design ideas and solutions created by Nate Berkus, so today we bring you a selection of images of projects designed by him. They can be amazing home design ideas. But more that this, today we want to share with you a video where Nate Berkus teaches how to create a relaxing bedroom retreat.
Nate Berkus Home Design Tips
The designer has some other tips and advices for all the rooms of your house that you definitely can take concerning your own home design ideas. Take a look:
Add Drama With Paint
Nate admitted he isn’t the biggest fan of accent walls — especially in new construction rooms without a lot of architectural details — but thought there are ways to work around that. “Painting a wall or a room black can be really effective: the walls start to recede, and it feels really sexy and very elegant,” he said. He recommends experimenting with niches, e.g. using shelves.
Turn an Eyesore Into an Opportunity
Nate believes you can tell a lot by the kind of container someone keeps their toothbrush in. “I use an old, beautiful cut-glass tumbler that I bought for like $5 at a flea market. I like the idea of using something beautiful in the everyday, kind of mundane way,” said Nate. His other go-to tip? Ditch the egg carton, and place eggs in a beautiful bowl in the fridge.
Avoid Small Space Clichés
Nate reasoned that it’s more important to have comfortable, quality pieces that you really love. One of the biggest small-space culprits? The studio-size sofa. “If you don’t put four chairs in the room or two huge chairs, you can get a proper 84-inch-size sofa in the space, and you’re going to have more comfortable seating than if you had lots of small pieces that were ‘designed’ to fit in the apartment or small space. I would rather have graciousness than quantity,” said Nate. His advice? Take measurements.
Nate believes that people are happiest with their space when they take risks and are honest with themselves about what they really love. He said he likes when people decide, “I’m going to use this room in this way. Even though it’s a formal dining room, I’m going to put two sofas facing each other in it, and I want to hang out in here in a different way than the home builder intended or how my neighbor next door has it set up.”
Invest in Handmade and Vintage Pieces
“If something is made by hand or vintage or unique, chances are, it’s going to feel like your home has been assembled over time,” Nate said. His Kryptonite? Nineteenth-century gold-framed mirrors, baskets, and Peruvian textiles.

Ready for a bunch of amazing home design ideas? Mary McDonald is an award-winning, internationally published Los Angeles-based interior designer. She is the one of the stars of Bravo TV’s “Million DollarDecorators” & “Property Envy” series and is consistently ranked as one of House Beautiful’s Top 100 Designers.
Mary McDonald is the author of “Interiors: The Allure of Style” from Rizzoli publishing and has been honored as one of the top 25 designers by Veranda Magazine. Her licensed product lines include an acclaimed fabric collection for F. Schumacher & Company, lighting for Robert Abbey, rugs for Patterson, Flynn and Martin, and furniture for Chaddock Home.
A pattern I can’t live without is stripes. They’re so basic and universal; they can be modern or traditional.
There is such a thing as clashing colors, but I can’t say there’s any rule about colors that go together. It’s more about the value of a color, its tonality. You have to strive for balance, so if you’re going to make it clash, make it clash evenly.
My rule for mixing patterns: Patterns don’t have to match but all the colors should work together and they should be all different scales.
Two things that add instant glamour are oversized door pulls and all-mirrored powder rooms.
My favorite room in the world is Nancy Lancaster’s yellow library. Very old-school and weird-old-lady with urns and flowers but so glamorous.
If I had to decorate using two sources only, they would be JF Chen for furniture, and Schumacher showroom for fabric and Patterson Flynn and Martin rugs.
My top three favorite stores in L.A. would have to be Govinda’s, the Hare Krishna store, which sells saris and textiles they get straight from India—and it all smells like incense and vegetarian food. I love the architecture of the Gucci store; the stuff inside is just a plus. I also love Book Soup.alnuts and crackers.
I’m pro scented candles. Especially Manuel Canovas candles, which smell like none other.
The most extravagant purchase I’ve made is a Giambattista Valli ball gown that I have nowhere to wear. I also have bolts of fabric for homes I don’t have yet. Some people call it hoarding but to me it’s just creativity, and it’s much less expensive than owning the actual homes.
My favorite sheets are Frette, D. Porthault, Pratesi, Sferra and Leontine Linens. If I were in a log cabin I wouldn’t mind flannel sheets but I don’t like being in a log cabin.
My signature decorating touches: Even in a modern room, something that has a little old–world glamour like a pair of french fauteuils or paneled walls or an urn. I also tend to use a palette of just two or three colors evenly placed around the room.
Let’s see some classic, elegant and modern interiors designed by Mary McDonald, one of the most recognized interior designers of the world. These home design ideas may help you with your own projects.
So, what about the modern home design ideas you just saw? Mary McDonald designs are incredible, don’t you think? Leave some feedback!
