Thanksgiving is coming. If you haven’t even started to think in the decor that you want to celebrate this holiday… well it’s time.
Home Design Ideas will give to you some tips to make your house festive and beautiful.
Autumn is a season full of warm colors. You should reflect that in your house.. Use flowers in jewel tone, like the dark red roses, anthurium, and brown and green orchids..
Without any doubt that its the table that will get the most attention.
The tablecloth should its a must. Cover your table with a cream or white cloth. Don’t buy/choose one with an exuberant pattern. Keep it very simple. Adding a ribbon or two to the edges won’t hurt but don’t over do it.
If you want an extra, create a table runner. They are a great home for the centerpiece.
“You can use several placemats, pieces of scrap fabric, paper or fabric doilies, or even a strip of brown packing paper. The runner doesn’t necessarily need to be flat either — a row of small pumpkins would make a festive addition to the center of the table.”
To give a more natural feeling to the table, make an original runner out of twigs and leaves. It’s a nice touch that everybody is going to love.
Let’s start to clear one thing: no tall centerpieces. No one wants to move some things out of the table in order to be able to have a conversation. Every guest should be visible. Spending all the time looking at a thing at the center of the table will bore even a saint.
Some people go for the floral arrangements, other don’t. If you do, try to use different types of flowers and vases.
You don’t need to spend money on flowers in order to have a natural and colored centerpiece. Fruits will always look nice on a Thanksgiving table. Seasonal fruits mandatory.
Candles have a big impact in your table. The first advice is to not select the scented ones. You’ll busy enough tasting the food. You don’t need a candle disrupting that.
Candle lamps are a choice if you don’t like the flame of a natural candle. Lamps have a constant light and you can change its color
Give your table a personal touch. You can create your own cards. The simple thing to do (if you’re short on time) in to hand write the names of the guests. If you want something more creative print some photos in the cards. Camille Styles has even a more original idea: “Personalize your table with DIY place cards that feature guests’ silhouettes instead of their names. To create them, find photos that feature a strong head-and-shoulder outline of your guests. Print the photos onto regular printer paper, cut around their outline, then use a black permanent marker to completely color over the photo. Glue the silhouette onto white card stock and place in a small gold mat.”
Displaying the food
Don’t crowd your table with serving pieces. It’s important to have an open and comfortable space.
You don’t need to have 100 plates on the table to make it look good. A standard setting will work for you. “Start with the dinner plate, top it with a folded napkin and the salad plate. The knife and spoon go to the right of the plate, the fork on the left. Above the plate, wine and water glasses go on the right, a bread plate on the left with the dessert fork and spoon directly above the plate. “
This tricks are important but the mandatory thing to do on Thanksgiving is to have an amazing time with your family and friends.
