House JA was envisioned to combine a rural and urban lifestyle and the result was PERFECT! “The existent stone ruins, a vestige of a traditional home and the configuration of the lot were the main aspects of the new project. The first principle was to separate the new and the old construction, even if they are connected inside.”, you can read at freshome.
One of the principles was to separate the new and the old construction, even if they are connected inside. A stone volume represents the existent building; a concrete volume the new one.
The second one, was to introduce light in the middle of the building. Two different empty spaces were generated: the entrance, and the heart of this home – the courtyard. As you can see here.
Mixing Rural and Urban Lifestyles: this building is a modern project mixing the old and the new, full of beautiful rooms and a clean but cozy ambiance. Visit the architect’s pages for more information about their work!

I was sailing by freshhome.com searching for the best news, as I always do, when I found something that totally feeds up that basic human need to live in spaces flooded by light. 🙂
I am talking about an innovative window system from Vitrosca, “The Inventor of the world’s slimmest sight lines”. ‘And why is this special?’, you ask. Because each panel can slide independently of each other.
Turnable Corner “allows architects to design a massive opening with more options for storing away the actual panels to open up the outside to the interior”, since each panel can be completely hidden along a wall down the side of a building when they are moved out of the way.

Swiss winters may be a little grey, but we found something that will add some color to the city. I am talking about an apartment, in Geneva, developed by the architects Leopold Banchini and Daniel Zamarbide. The concept is very unusual: everything can be seen.
It was conceived as a place for intimacy: the kitchen and the living room are connected with the bedroom by a window.

For interior designers, architects or simply decor lovers, here we are again to give the best tips. At least, we try.
Winter is a difficult season, and we tend to be a little bit downer and sad. For that reason we use to wear black clothes, to use dark acessories and guess what? We tend to keep our home decor so dark that it turns out to leave our spirit even lower.
This situation must stop, and it must stop right now!
Today we bring you some tips on how to decorate your modern living room with blue shades. But in a happy way!
If you have blue painted walls you should use another colors for the decoration. We recommend strong and happy colors like purple, pink, orange, yellow and metallic shades, like gold an copper. Golden and blue really is a great and modern color combo. Use it!
Of course you can mix gray with blue as well. It’s a contemporary combination, perfect for modern-rustic living rooms.
Choose blue and white for traditional modern living rooms, and you can add some natural shades, as beige and brown.
Don’t forget to abuse of patterned details, like pillows and paintings and to use a modern ceiling lamp. That’s the way to send the blues away and get a modern and happy living room.
imm cologne is ON already! This year the fair was looking forward to get a creative view from outside of europe in order to realize its annual feature ‘das haus’.
In words of Dick Spierenburg, creative director of imm cologne 2015, the decision to invite neri&hu as guests of honour for 2015 was made because “with neri&hu, we have found a pair of architects who have long been experimenting with giving the buildings they design their own characteristic inner dimension, by filling it with furniture and fixtures they design themselves, and it’s in a way which we find really inspiring: atmospheric and pared down at the same time, with refined details and twists.”
Neri&hu project is a 240 m2 large house with a bridge. This elevated walkway “guides people through ‘das haus’ in a way that offers curated views of the various rooms, providing a renewed perspective on architecture, design and living.”
Neri&hu’s contribution to the ‘das haus’ feature is considered a portrait of themselves but also a practical, workable and of above all authentic concept.
The lighting and furniture pieces as well as the colors and materials used to the flooring they have selected to furnish the housing simulation expresses their own vision and creative personality. You can find more about this architects and this contemporary project, here.

Our house is seen as our escape from the world. In 2014 architects will be extremely concerned with the energy of the spaces. Homes will be more spacious and without too many divisions. Interior designers will design spaces a little bit minimalistic to create a more relaxed ambience.
Traditional home design
In 2014, Midcentury modern design will continue to be the most common style however more homeowners are looking for a traditional home design. Architects and builders will face more demand for this style of homes.
