It’s been 6 days since the end of the Luxury Design And Craftsmanship Summit but we still feel the need to talk about it! It was one of a kind, so we’re now sharing some highlights of the event with you. It’s ok if you were not there, you have one more shot: Paris, January 2019!
The Luxury Design And Craftsmanship Summit 2018 started on the 20th of this month and ended last week. We couldn’t ask for a better way to start: there were live showcases of the several traditional arts and crafts, many important personalities in the business area, and much more. We are about to show you some of the best arts of the Portuguese heritage. This was what you missed out on!
Those arts were: Embroidery, Filigree, Wooden Patchwork, Leaf Gilding, Jewellery Craft, Renda de Bilros and many more! With stunning details and always accompanied by an amazing staff that had the pleasure to speak to the guests, this Luxury Design Summit was a success. These showcases promoted a strong bonding between the Audience and the Artisans and the end result was amazing!
These 2 days were divided by three amazing panels constituted by your favorite host speakers. We can say that one of the highlights was, for sure, the Opening Session that was conducted by Amandio Pereira, CEO of the Covet Group. With the incredible speakers we referred before, throughout the two whole days, it had everything we could hope to achieve and more.
The highlights of the event were, without doubts, the panels. With outstanding topics, the first panel counted with “The value of Craftsmanship For the luxury World”. With the contribution of Amandio Pereira, CEO of the Covet Group, the first panel was constituted by Nicole Segundo, Representative/ Network Developer to Portugal for the Michaelangelo Foundation; Fátima Santos, General Secretary of the AORP; Luis Onofre, entrepreneur, shoemaker, and CEO of the Luis Onofre brand; and Antonio Moura, business developer. In the next day, you could see more successful business people talking about the main topic: Design and Craftsmanship! (see the video at the end of the page)
This Summit was, from our perspective, done with the greatest intention, based on an attempt to give more and more value to craftsmanship. Beyond what is in the eyes of the beholder, that is, the design, it is necessary and very important also to value the manual art of those who spend hours to finish each piece.
With this event, there was an improvement in this area, and it was possible to verify that Portugal is growing and that the country itself should be proud of how far it came but never satisfied, always looking for more. People value the process of confection of the pieces, they want to feel connected with the work of art. We can finally say that Design and Craftsmanship are holding hands!
We hope you are inspired as much as we are by this Craftsmanship Summit, so let us know your thoughts and leave a comment! You can find more information and inspiration about interior design in the other articles on home design ideas.

For starters, you can’t leave Porto without having a peek at Clérigos Tower, in the historic downtown. Then you need to make the pit-stop of all the pit-stops – the famous Lello Bookstore and after, you need to get around to see the iconic Sao Bento Train Station along the world-class riverside area and the unique Port Wine Cellars.
Although Porto is a cultural city wherever place you decide to step into, it has unique outdoor places as well where you can just sit, relax and have a good time. Two of our fan favourites are… Virtudes Gardens, the Square of Lions or the Chrystal Palace Gardens and if you enjoy the nightlife, then you can’t miss a night out at the Galerias de Paris in Downtown Oporto!
One of the most important festivities is coming and we couldn’t let it pass. We’re talking about São Joao Party of course. A traditional regional party that honours the patron saint of Porto – São João. Celebrating in a unique way, there will be fireworks during the 24th of June and plenty of fun all around!
