If you are an interior designer, we know that you are constantly looking for inspiration and we really believe that you can have it from New York Hotels. Yes, it is true. There are so many hotels in new york and most of them are great examples in what concerns decoration and interior design matters, so we decided to set up 6 design ideas to take from some of our favorite new york hotels.
Paramount Hotel:
Paramount Hotel is a 597-room New York City hotel in Midtown, just half a block from Times Square. In 2012, Paramount went into a $40 million renovation of the lobby and a complete remodel of the public spaces. The lighting pieces featured are from DelightFULL.
Dream Downtown:
Andel Architects were the professionals in charge of this hotel’s interior design. It is an 184,000 SF boutique hotel in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. The 12-story building includes 316 guestrooms, two restaurants, rooftop and VIP lounges, outdoor pool and pool bar, a gym, event space, and ground floor retail.
Langham Place:
It is located between Bryant Park and the Empire State Building, that’s why this hotel embodies the dynamic spirit of the city so well. Designed by Meyer Davis Studio.

Palace Hotel:
Observe the extraordinary intersection of history and innovation at The New York Palace, a Manhattan luxury hotel located just steps away from St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center on Madison Avenue. The hotel boasts 813 guest rooms and 86 suites, including the prominent Tower accommodations, showcasing exceptional views of the city skyline, elegant furnishings, and enhanced features.
New York Edition Hotel
Located in the heart of midtown New York’s Flatiron District, steps from Madison Square Park, the luxury hotel seamlessly blends the integrity and character of a prestigious landmark building with a simple, sophisticated design sensibility. Originally built in 1909 as the headquarters for The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the historic 41-story clock tower offers jaw-dropping 360-degree views and is an iconic landmark against the city skyline. Recently, the Hotel was renovated by the Rockwell Group.
Nomad Hotel
The NoMad Hotel was the first hotel in New York to be renovated by Jacques Garcia. The design draws from his private, idiosyncratic residences and is inspired by his time in Paris as a young man. The hotel is intended as a fresh take on the classic grand hotels of Europe with a distinct New York sensibility.

“My work is based on life.” This is the way Matali Crasset defines what she does. This may be the reason why the 2013’s hospitality project Dar Hi Nefta is so connected to nature and the local life.

Dar HI, a new concept of eco-retreat, is the magical result of a collaboration between the ever so talented French designer Matali Crasset, Patrick Elouarghi and Philippe Chapelet. “This project follows the terrain’s movement and shapes”, she says. The incredible citadel that supports a hotel and a spa, emerges from the sand as a mirage.
What the designer wanted to do, was precisely what she did: she achieved complete harmony between the natural insolvency and the local life. This explains why all the furniture was precisely manufactured in Tunisia (most of them by a local Nefta’s craftsmen). The interiors are happy, peaceful and filled with vibrant colors. Regal purples and hopeful greens, ochre and sand are the exotic colors leading the eye through space.

Three Different Areas
Matali Crasset designed 3 different areas: the pill houses, the troglodytes, and the dunes. “I have conceived an architecture that is toward the indoor when outside and the outdoor when you’re inside” explains Matali. The pill houses in particular (since they are Matali’s favorite part of the project) are elevated from the ground, offering different panoramas: the rove, the village of Nefta or the Chott-El-Jerid, a magic endorheic salt lake.
The Pill Houses
These elevated houses are located according to the sun exposure and seem to be planted into the sand. “Both are very different”, says Matali referring to the Pill houses. The designer believes that one of the houses is more intimate, once it’s high above the ground.
In order to contrast with this intimacy, there’s a small village square down bellow where everyone has a space protected from the sun. The square, the bar, the water point and the small fountains are places to socialize and interact.
When asked what she loves the most about this project, Matali answers “the view”. And she adds: “There is something about Nefta that no picture can represent, perhaps what we call genius loci”.
The French designer confesses that apart from designing objects, they are “neither the center nor the end (purpose) of the process of creation”: they are just a possible updating among other things (like architecture, scenography, exhibitions) in a certain moment, of a vaster thought system.
