The Australian architects Andrew Simpson and Emma Parkinson renovated this industrial building of the 19th century. Before being the astounding, spacious and gracious home that is nowadays, this industrial warehouse building lived as a jam factory, water factory, advertising agency and engineering consultancy.
The project made in 2014, the team of two architects objective was the interior. Big spaces, spatial flexibility and spatial reuse. To draw light and ventilation into the home interior decor were used an extensive number of skylights were introduced on the north and south-facing roof pitches, and a large void that connects the ground floor and first floor were strategically positioned to also take advantage of this convenience.
Some of the spaces of this industrial style home such as the bedroom, bathroom and laundry were separated by a series of sliding panels. This way, the originally closed spaces have a sense that they can be areas that can form part of the open plan or used for more private purposes.
The connection between the ground floor and the second floor is grounded by an impressive staircase that, also having access to the living room through a sliding door in a vintage style, gives the illusion of being even bigger giving the white colours.
