If you’re an interior designer, a decorator or simply a design lover, you already know that Flos is one of the strongest lighting design companies in the world. And the world is not a tiny place! For fifty years, Flos has been crafting objects of light and shedding brightness on generations of dreams and we hope this lasts forever.
For this company, born in 1962, light is the substance for expressing new ideas and illuminating unexplored emotions. Flos history has taught the company how to fan the flames of provocation with research into new poetic notions of functionality.
Trusting the intuition is the only secret that has always allowed Flos to create products that become icons, establishing new typologies and innovative archetypes.
If you are asking yourself which qualities allowed Flos to be placed at the cutting edge, here you have your answer: connecting with masters of design, discovering new talents, commanding high technical and technological status and staying tuned into mass culture.
Experimentation opens the way for Flos to use revolutionary materials – as in the past with Cocoon – and hi-tech solutions, today represented by OLEDs and eco-sustainable materials.

BUTTERFLY – seating system by Patricia Urquiola
Butterfly gets its name from the “butterfly” shape created by the outer corner that joins the armrest and the backrest. It is a modular seating system that responds effectively to the needs of modularity and comfort, suitable for free and informal usage.
The combination of these elements, using a simple joint system, makes it possible to freely set up versatile configurations, from in-line sofas to corner solutions, from front-facing to lounge layouts. This first textile sofa in B&B Italia Outdoor collection is characterised by soft and sinuous shapes.
BUTTERFLY – complements by Patricia Urquiola
The Butterfly complements have an outline that perfectly follows the lines of the sofa, harmoniously flanking the seat at the top. The family consists of round, square and rectangular low tables and a small table.
They all feature a large weave pattern, made of painted twisted polyethylene fibres that wrap around the grey painted aluminium frame. Two finishes are available for the surfaces of the complements: white Carrara statuarietto marble or Thermo treated ash wooden slats.
FAT-SOFA OUTDOOR – seating system by Patricia Urquiola
The rounded, soft and sinuous shapes of the Fat-Sofa seating system are the base for the new outdoor version, characterized by a brand new interlacing design. Its fully padded seat is accompanied by a metal frame backrest that supports the original weave, creating a special play of fullness and emptiness.
The large weave pattern, made of tortora coloured twisted polyethylene fibres, makes the design unique, respecting the designer’s idea of lightness and transparency. The new collection of fabrics, available also on the large back cushions, creates evocative colour and visual combinations.
MIRTO – complements by Antonio Citterio
The Mirto series, a new contemporary classic in the world of outdoor furniture for which the company performed substantial research, is now enriched by a wide range of complements in different types and sizes.
The range of dining tables is now broader, three rectangular models and one square. Console, bench and different sizes of small tables complete the offer. The finish of the frame and of the upper top is white or tortora, for elegant monochrome solutions, or wooden slatted natural brushed Iroko for a contrasting look.
CRINOLINE – stools by Patricia Urquiola
A stool, available in two heights, is the latest addition to the Crinoline seat series. It comes with a bright stainless steel frame, a removable seat cushion, and a polyethylene interlacing in the colours white/black, bronze/black and tortora, the new finish now offered on the entire Crinoline family.
