When you live right in the heart of a big city, you just want a place where you can relax and have the time that you need. With no exception, Jay Valgora projected that idea into his home. He created an apartment where he could enjoy the hustle of the city combined with the beauty of nature, relaxation and privacy.
“Our ideal for the home must be authentic, flexible, and connected to the environment, even in the heart of the city,” says Valgora.
Minimalism and 20th century pieces are highly present on the loft. The interior designer wanted the combination of both so he waged on monochromatic colors with contemporary materials like steel and zinc.
EDITOR’S CHOICE:
Hanna, by Delightfull, is a vintage suspension fixture which suits perfectly a living room. Its structure made in brass reports to a classical ambiance. This magnificent pendant lamp is elegantly composed by five arms and three lampshades made in aluminum by artisans who apply delicately an ancient technique called hand metal spinning.
Mid-century design is highly present and we can see that through the ceilings. They are extremely high and portray exactly what the designer wanted. It’s here where modernism appears: a dark steel staircase leads to the last floors taking advantage of the verticality of the flat.
Since the loft is located on the last floor of the Gilsey House, the interior designer took advantage of natural light. He wanted big windows on the front to create an amazing experience and to enhance the beauty of the materials and pieces of the flat.
Outside we find a terrace with dining areas and perennial gardens where either the children or adults can relax and have a great time. The space is extremely private and, at the same time, extremely open and playful.
This flat is full of space and full of amazing details. The high expectations were fulfilled and Jay accomplished his initial idea. He lives on the top of a centennial building full of history, and at the same time, he lives on a flat where his necessities were met: he can enjoy his private life with his family, he can enjoy the city view and he can apply amazing design ideas and pieces into his home.
