House in Wantage, England
Value: $57 million
Christened Kingstone Lisle Park, this historic property occupies more than 1,000 sylvan acres on the outskirts of Oxfordshire, some 75 miles west of London. Presiding over the vast piece of land is a Palladian-style manor that dates from the late 17th century. (It is being sold by Jamie Lonsdale, a member of the prominent British banking family.) The masonry façade gives way to a series of grand interior spaces, including a billiard room and a formal entrance hall with a barrel-vaulted coffered ceiling.
Property Values: A swimming pool, tennis court, and cottage also dot the grounds, which contain formal gardens with topiaries, farmable pastures, lakes, hunting fields, and more.
Talking Point: The home is said to have played host to a number of royal visitors, perhaps most notably Princess Diana, who was a close friend of Lonsdale’s ex-wife homes for sale.
Home in Todos Los Santos, México
Value: $480.000
This idyllic vacation house was designed in 2006 by Jorge Gracia, founder of the up-and-coming Tijuana firm Gracia Studio. Sliding woven-steel screens and expanses of glazed tile lend visual punch to the rectilinear abode, which is constructed of tawny concrete and sited near the tip of the Baja peninsula.
Property Values: Half an acre, the parcel includes a second house intended to function as guest quarters or a rental residence. Each building has its own terrace and L-shaped pool shaded by a palm-frond pergola.
Talking Point: With its vibrant gallery and restaurant scenes, Todos Santos is a haven for art and food aficionados.
Home in Los Angeles
Value: Value: $2.4 million
In the mid-1970s the architect Donald Hensman—cofounder of the acclaimed California firm Buff & Hensman—conceived this compact Hollywood Hills home as his own bachelor pad. Redwood sheathes both the interior and exterior of the single-story structure, which had been dramatically altered but was recently restored to its original scheme.
Property Values: Almost an acre, the lot includes a garage and a swimming pool spanned by a tiled bridge.
Talking Point: The home was named Domus Solaris (House of the Sun) for its deft incorporation of natural light.
