From 22.9-7.10,2018 beer is going to flow in Munique, Germany. Here is our rundown of Oktoberfest 2018!
The 185th edition of Oktoberfest is just around the corner. One of Munique’s and also Germany’s most important cultural events every year, Oktoberfest brings everyone together for a good time, drinking, watching football matches and singing.

Oktoberfest 2018 will open its doors to the public at 12.00 on September 22, with its traditional opening ceremony O’zapft, and it will close its doors at 23:30 on the 7th of October.
During business days all tents will open at 10:30 till 23:00 (beer will be available till 22:30, instead of 23:00). During weekends, all tents will open at 9:00 instead of 10:30.Certain tents may extend their closing time to 01:00, instead of 23:00.
We made a list of events that you may want to see and maybe partake:
Oktoberfest 2018 – Saturday, 22 September
11:00 – Arrival of the hosts at the tents after the famous Munique parade Wiesn-Einzug der Festwirte und Brauereien;
12:00 – At the Schottenhamel tent, the opening ceremony O’zapft will officially kickoff Oktoberfest, with the opening of the first leg of the event. Opened by Monique’s Mayor.
Oktoberfest 2018 – Sunday, 23 September
10:00 – Bavarian and Germanic regions parade. A parade that highlights the various regions of the Germanic region and other European countries as well.
Oktoberfest 2018 – Monday, 24 September
09:00 – Oktoberfest Tour for children. A perfect time not only for your child to participate but also the parents, organized and arranged by Monique’s Municipal District to appeal to the tourists and to promote more family-friendly events;
Oktoberfest 2018 – Tuesday, 25 September
12:00-18:00 – Oktoberfest’s first family day. During this event, all fairs and toys will go on sale;
Oktoberfest 2018 – Tuesday, 2 October
12:00-18:00 Second family day, similar to the first family day, all fairs and toys go on sale.
Oktoberfest 2018 – Tuesday, 7 October
12:00 – Traditional final salute, with shots being fired from the staircase of the Bavarian monument;
23:30 – Closing of all the tents and official close of the 2018 Oktoberfest festival.
There is nothing that goes as good hand in hand as beer and football. In this year’s Oktoberfest these are the football matches from the Bundesliga that are going to be a must-watch.
One of the most popular combinations of events is a visit at the Oktoberfest before or after seeing Bayern München or TSV 1860 München play one of their home matches.
FC Bayern matches during Oktoberfest
- September 25th, 20:30: FC Bayern – FC Augsburg
- October 2nd, 21:00: FC Bayern – Ajax Amsterdam
- October 6th, 18:30: FC Bayern – Borussia Mönchengladbach
TSV 1860 München matches during Oktoberfest
- September 22nd, 14:00: TSV 1860 München – SV Wehen Wiesbaden
- October 1st, 19:00: TSV 1860 München – FC Würzburger Kickers
Due to recent events that involved women’s safety, and to prevent sexual harassment, the city of Munique, in an attempt to offer women a good and safer experience at Oktoberfest 2018 and future events, are adopting newer and safer rules to protect women.
There is a new security point for women, located below the Bavaria statue, in the Service Center, in the same entrance as the Red Cross.
Open daily from 18:00 to 1:00, additionally, every Saturday from 15:00 to 1:00.
