1930s Barcelona Vintage Apartment Gets a Colorful Refurbishment

We love a good refurbishment, you probably already know that by now. What we love even more, however, is a very colorful refurbishment carried out in a stunning 1930s vintage apartment… in Barcelona!

Located in a 1930s building in the gothic city of Barcelona, this very vintage flat’s refurbishment was carried out in 2015 by the local studio Cirera + Espinet.

Before Cirera + Espinet put their hands to work, the flat had never been touched and everything, every wall, cable, pipe, was in its original condition! One of the original elements that the studio decided to keep was the brick vaulted ceiling.

Remodeled to suit the needs of a young professional family, the space and the rooms were opened up, thereby making them feel taller and brighter. Another particular thing about this new modern home is that ““we come in through the kitchen which is the heart of the flat as it’s completely open and is used as main entrance hall to the rest of the rooms,” explain the designers.

All the materials and colors chosen for this project were very carefully thought. Throughout the apartment we can see finishes such as polished concrete, reclaimed timber, stainless steel and handmade ceramic.
