Radiant Orchid: Pantone’s color of the year 2014

The boss has spoken. Pantone has selected “Radiant Orchid” as the color for the next year. As you might remember (if you don’t check these posts  “The official color guide: Pantone’s 2014 Spring trend colors” “How to decorate with 2014 Pantone color trends”) the very distinct color was in the selection for next year’s Spring trends and now was confirmed as the top tone…for the entire 2014.

Pantone explains that “Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.

Designers share their favorite ways to decorate with just a little or a lot of this captivating shade this season.

This fantastic color succeeds “Emerald” as the tone of the year.

If you’re dreaming up new color palettes for spring, designers agree that Radiant Orchid is the shade to bring home. Interior designer and blogger Ashlina Kaposta of The Decorista finds the shade to be a perfect expression of the season. “I love the energy that this pop of color brings to a room — sophistication, vibrance, happiness and style,” says Kaposta. For vibrant shades of this purple hue, try Benjamin Moore’s Lilac Pink. Whether on a feature wall, or a small furniture accessory, it’s sure to enliven your space this spring.
