The Luxury Design And Craftsmanship Summit 2018 started on the 20th of this month and ended last week. We couldn’t ask for a better way to start: there were live showcases of the several traditional arts and crafts, many important personalities in the business area, and much more. We are about to show you some of the best arts of the Portuguese heritage. This was what you missed out on!
Those arts were: Embroidery, Filigree, Wooden Patchwork, Leaf Gilding, Jewellery Craft, Renda de Bilros and many more! With stunning details and always accompanied by an amazing staff that had the pleasure to speak to the guests, this Luxury Design Summit was a success. These showcases promoted a strong bonding between the Audience and the Artisans and the end result was amazing!
These 2 days were divided by three amazing panels constituted by your favorite host speakers. We can say that one of the highlights was, for sure, the Opening Session that was conducted by Amandio Pereira, CEO of the Covet Group. With the incredible speakers we referred before, throughout the two whole days, it had everything we could hope to achieve and more.
The highlights of the event were, without doubts, the panels. With outstanding topics, the first panel counted with “The value of Craftsmanship For the luxury World”. With the contribution of Amandio Pereira, CEO of the Covet Group, the first panel was constituted by Nicole Segundo, Representative/ Network Developer to Portugal for the Michaelangelo Foundation; Fátima Santos, General Secretary of the AORP; Luis Onofre, entrepreneur, shoemaker, and CEO of the Luis Onofre brand; and Antonio Moura, business developer. In the next day, you could see more successful business people talking about the main topic: Design and Craftsmanship! (see the video at the end of the page)
This Summit was, from our perspective, done with the greatest intention, based on an attempt to give more and more value to craftsmanship. Beyond what is in the eyes of the beholder, that is, the design, it is necessary and very important also to value the manual art of those who spend hours to finish each piece.
With this event, there was an improvement in this area, and it was possible to verify that Portugal is growing and that the country itself should be proud of how far it came but never satisfied, always looking for more. People value the process of confection of the pieces, they want to feel connected with the work of art. We can finally say that Design and Craftsmanship are holding hands!
