Kevin Self’s engineering background and experience of experimentation with different materials informs his furniture design practice. He compares the highly skilled lacquering and restoration process involved to the restoration of a classic car: “You have to strip it back to the constituent parts and prepare them individually back to their original finish, then the lacquer is meticulously built up, layer upon layer to fully envelope the piece. The end result gives a luxurious depth of shine and colour.”

Fabric
